Activity
The Inclusive Learning Mentor team will work in primary and secondary schools in the Cluster to break down the barriers to learning that exist for some students. They will provide 1:1 advice and support to a caseload of students and their families in a sustained and regular way for a period of approximately one term. Whenever appropriate, access to outside agencies and services will form an integral part of the work in order to improve behaviour, motivation and self esteem. Progress will be measured through:
  • attendance figures
  • attainment levels
  • evaluation reports from school
  • evaluation by student and the family
  • assessment of behaviour
  • development of social skills
All students on caseload will be supported by an assessment of need, an action plan (with reviews as appropriate) and final assessment prior to closure of case.

Students and family members will be encouraged to become involved in a range of out of school and family activities. ICT will also be used to support learning. Staff will also liaise closely with the teams involved in the other Cluster strands.

Dual line management will be provided by a member of the school's senior management team and the Manager of the team.
