| Hastings and St Leonards'
LSU / PDC will provide a pro-active service to support schools in their
management of vulnerable young people. Initially this service is aimed
at students who need support in identified behavioural issues. Personalised
action plans will be drawn up in conjunction with the young person, the
school, the family and the LSU/PDC staff.
Planned reintegration will be an
essential component of the service, as will be the support offered to
parents in the form of parenting course, holiday learning and individualised
learning / training support.
Secondary
A team of staff will provide support for 12 pupils (2 per secondary
school) at the LSU/PDC. The two-week package at the LSU/PDC will involve
a structured day focused on the themed area. Integration into the unit
and back into the school will form a vital part of the programme, with
parental involvement encouraged at all times.
The LSU/PDC will also offer training
to staff nominated by the school. Schools will be encouraged to send
staff to the centre for a training package that will be offered alongside
the service for pupils.
Primary
2 teams of outreach staff will work in primary schools for the equivalent
of one day a week for a period of six weeks. The in-school work will
focus on a group of identified pupils (6 vulnerable young people and
4 role models) from a single year group. Support will be themed according
to need, and schools will be responsible for the identification of appropriate
pupils and staff.
School staff must accompany the
group during the sessions in order to benefit from the training that
will be offered alongside the service for pupils. The LSU / PDC Manager
will support and monitor the effectiveness of the resulting work in
schools. |
