| FREE! Family Learning Event in Half Term |
East Sussex County Council are holding a family learning day in half term (Feb 14th 2006). The day is completely free and is to be held at Pyke House in Battle.
There will be craft activities, organised playground games and a dentist hygienist on hand for the younger children and an opportunity to work on laptops and digital photography for the older ones. There will also be a creche so that the parents to have a short break and be able to take advantage of some of the activities.
Please contact Ann Todd at the Cluster office if you know of any families who would benefit. |
| Partnership showing the way |
During 'Excellence in Cities' week, 10th - 14th October 2005, the Excellence Cluster ran a highly effective and well received course 'Coping with Stress and Enjoying Life More' at the Salvation Army Centre in Hastings.
The focus was issues that impact on parenting, such as depression and confidence building, which in turn have a profound impact on the well being and development of children of school age.
Given the nature of the subject, the group benefited from small numbers. The eight women who attended found themselves addressing extremely personal obstacles, issues that dictated 'absolute trust between participants'. Various coping strategies, techniques and methods were demonstrated and discussed, many of which were put into practice.
Needless to say, for a rew, the course was emotionally challenging and the feedback has been excellent. A follow up course is now being planned.
